A look at the best offensive and defensive units as projected by our computer ratings

Here we’ll take a look at our top-rated offenses and defenses coming into the season based on historical program performance and returning production.

At least heading into the 2025 season, based on our evaluation, the defenses seems to be well ahead of the offenses, at least at the upper end of the spectrum. Notice below that only 5 offensive units rate above 90 while there are 10 defensive units rated 90 or above. It could be that we’ve underrated a few offenses, but it is interesting nonetheless.
