TNG 2024 - Bi-District Playoff Review
Take a look at the results from the Bi-District round with updated brackets, model performance review, and a look at the biggest upsets of Round 1
Here we’ll briefly highlight the week that was in Class 6A. Model Performance
The model went 54-10 in the first round of the 2024 6A playoffs, good for 84.4%. The model was particularly dialed in on the Division 1 side where it nailed 29 out of the 32 winners. The Division 2 bracket is where most of the chaos occurred, with three 20+ point favorites going down, including the biggest upset of the season to-date.
Despite the huge, headlining upsets, the model actually performed near the top end of its historical range for the Bi-District round of the playoffs, as you can see below. We should all take note of what can happen during the Area Round, however. Take a look at the table below and take note of the range of outcomes historically for the games coming up this week.

Upsets of the Week
All of the major upsets in Round 1 were concentrated around the Houston area. Elkins’ win over Shadow Creek was the biggest upset of the season, according to the TNG model. Manvel, Cy Ranch, and College Park also pulled off incredibly stunning wins, each knocking off state Top-30 opposition as three score underdogs.
