There was very little movement inside the Top 30 this week, and there hasn’t been too much over the last several weeks, which is a sign that the model has truly identified the top teams in the state. Duncanville put some space between themselves and the rest of the elite teams chasing them with their convincing win over DeSoto. Behind them, #2 through #7 are separated by less than a touchdown and a two-point conversion in terms of the Elo spread between them, which is remarkable.

Despite the loss to Duncanville, DeSoto stayed at #5 in the computer, but are now only 4 Elo points ahead of Southlake Carroll. The Eagles, very obviously, are still an elite team and they remain the overall favorite in the projected Division 2 bracket.

Much-discussed Summer Creek finally moved into the Top 10 with their win over CE King. The Bulldogs are still probably underrated by a few spots, but they’ve got more opportunities ahead to continue climbing with their schedule down the stretch.

The group of teams from #8 Katy to #12 Lake Travis are separated by just a field goal in terms of their Elos, so the computer views those teams, essentially, as equals. Any ordering you’d prefer within that group would be fully justified based on the computer rankings.

With Katy’s playoff projection flipping back to Division 1 this week, 8 of our current top 12 are projected D1.

This week we have to go all the way down to #44 Conroe to find a team that rose more than four spots in the rankings from last week. The Tigers remained undefeated with their win over Grand Oaks and was rewarded with a jump of six spots for their efforts.
