TNG Matchups: Division 2 Playoffs (Area)
Statistical preview of every single playoff matchup, offense vs. defense advantages
Welcome to the Bi-District round of the 6A Division 2 playoffs! The graphic below reads left-to-right and games are in the order that they appear on the bracket, so the winner of Pebble Hills/Permian will face the winner of North Crowley/Timber Creek in the 2nd round. For the matchup advantage columns, if the team on the left (Team) is favored, it’ll be green. If the team on the right (Opponent) is favored, it’ll be red. Also, the shading of the colors matter, too. The darker the shading, the heavier the matchup advantage. The team with the advantage is listed below the numbers, too.
Off vs. Def = Team Offensive Grade - Opponent Defensive Grade
Def vs. Off = Team Defensive Grade - Opponent Offensive Grade
DOM = Team Dominance Grade - Opponent Dominance Grade
ELO WP% = Team expected win percentage according to the ELO model
RANKING THE OFFENSES
The movement week-to-week in adjusted offensive scoring during playoff time should be taken very seriously given the general level of opponent is higher. We went into a little more depth on the top 10 offenses entering the playoffs here, so take a look back for added context. DeSoto fell back to the pack after underperforming slightly in the bi-district round. Katy performed as expected, but still fell two spots due to Byron Nelson and Dripping Springs’ big weeks. Elsewhere, the Creeks moved up in tandem with overperformances, Summer Creek and Shadow Creek play each other this weekend.
RANKING THE DEFENSES
The movement week-to-week in adjusted defensive scoring during playoff time should be taken very seriously given the general level of opponent is higher. We went into a little more depth on the top 10 offenses entering the playoffs here, so take a look back for added context. Not a ton of notable movements among the top division 2 defenses. Shadow Creek jumped into the top 10; they’re ascending on offense and defense, so that’s something to really take note of as they take on Summer Creek this weekend and could have a date with Katy in the round following.
