TNG Top 50 Rankings: Week 6
Top 6 holds serve, Rockwall back into the Top 25, several others with notable moves
It’s a similar story this week as it has been the past several weeks; the top end of the rankings remained largely unchanged while there was plenty of movement from #10 on down which will continue to be the case since the teams in that group are so tightly packed. Remember, in an Elo ratings system, teams are not docked at all if they win, but the amount of points they gain will be less if they underperform relative to their expected margin of victory. At the same time, teams that lose cannot gain Elo points. Much of the movement that we see in the rankings is just due to teams’ gains or losses relative to those around them. Beyond looking at the ranking of each team, take note of their Elo rating out to the right of the table below and observe those gaps.
Here are the main takeaways from the new set of rankings:
Top 6 continue to hold serve, while Allen and Southlake Carroll flip in the #7 and #8 spots. They’re only separated by a few Elo points, so it’s not the last time this will happen until someone pulls away
#9 through #22 all separated by what amounts to about 3 - 4 points on the field
Dripping Springs moved up to #11 with their 55-7 win over Bowie
Klein Collins entered the Top 20 with their dominant performance over Klein Oak
Cy Fair (+7) and Rockwall (+8) made big jumps into the top 25 following their wins over Stratford and Heath respectively. Heath took quite a trip down given the manner in which they lost
Outside of the top 25, Temple, Clear Springs, and Odessa Permian all made greater than 5 spot moves up
Without further ado, here’s the new TNG Top 50 for Week 6:
It's the top 3 and all the rest.
